Piedmont protagonist at the Slow Wine Tour in the U.S.A.

The consortium of promotion I Vini del Piemonte and Slow Wine together again to present the very best of the Italian and Piedmontese oenology in the United States of America.

From February 27th to March 7th 2018, I Vini del Piemonte will take part, for the third consecutive year, at the promotional tour in the USA organized by Slow Wine. The consortium of promotion will represent Piedmont as host country in this event, which is the more successful initiative among those organized by Slow Food in the world.

The U.S.A. are the world’s first wine consumers, with almost 32 million hectolitres drunk in 2016 (Source: OIV – International Organization of Vine and Wine), and Italy, with a total market share of 32,4%, equal to more than 2,5 million hectolitres, remains the main wine supplier in this market of primary importance (Source: UN Comtrade).

The Slow Wine Tour will stop in several US cities: on February 27th it will start from Atlanta (Georgia), the main novelty of this edition. It will continue on March 1st in New York, March 5th in Houston (Texas) and it will end on March 7th in San Francisco (California). Each leg will involve the meeting with qualified sector operators (importers, restaurateurs, sommeliers, journalists and wine bloggers) and the New York stop will also include a session reserved for the public.

Along with the Italian wine producing companies selected by the prestigious Slow Wine guide, the American sector operators and wine lovers will have the opportunity to meet the producers of the consortium of promotion I Vini del Piemonte, who will present a selection of Piedmontese wines, which are always extremely appreciated in the United States where our region has reached 200 million Euros of exports.

The different legs will give the producers the opportunity to confront different realities, from the cosmopolitan New York, which last year has attracted more than 1,700 participants, to Houston, a potentially very interesting market. The latter boasts a high level catering sector as well as consumers who wish to get to know the protagonists who produce the Italian wines. The absolute novelty of this edition will be the stop in Atlanta, a city with a fast economic growth. The grand finale will be in San Francisco, which is a well-established reality for Italian wines.
